Reviews:

"I imagine it must be difficult to bring history to life for school children. What better way to introduce an important time in our nation's past than to capture a child's attention with a unique, but almost true story? In Nancy West's book, Chips a Hometown Hero, readers will come to adore a rambunctious and lovable pup, and cheer him on as he becomes the most highly decorated K9 hero of World War II."  -- Heather Froeschl, Reviewer, Book Ideas

“Chips” isn’t just a children’s book, it’s a book for all ages. Ms. West really captures what it feels like for a soldier returning home after being away at war, and she does it through the eyes of a dog. Chips makes the reader want to laugh and cry.” — Ron Aiello, President, United States War Dog Association

“This is a great story. It is both wholesome and educational. This is one of those books that become lop-eared from use. Read it and see why.” — The Reading Tub Review

"I liked the whole concept of the story and what I learned about how dogs helped out in the War. I would like to read more books on this subject. The book will turn any dog HATER into a dog LOVER. What I especially liked was how I was somewhat let in on Chips' feelings, like how he could "sense war meant something bad." Little Kid Reaction--The Reading Tub Review

"Though fictional, it is based on the adventures of  the most highly decorated K-9 to serve in WWII. Don’t let the fact that this is a story about dogs influence your decision to buy, read, and share this book. The story really focuses on the dog, the family, community, the early 1940s in small-town America. I would put this in my "Top 10" of the books I've reviewed."
